Unintended Acceleration
Recently, Toyota came under fire as consumers began getting into accidents due to sudden acceleration. Owners of these vehicles claimed that the accidents were not their fault, and rather the fault of a faulty accelerator. Attorneys came together to prove this was true. Some Toyotas had loose or thick floor mats that trapped the gas pedal, while others had gas pedal linkage, which caused the accelerator to stick and stay in an open position, causing the driver to lose all control of the gas pedal.
After this was proven, Toyota agreed to compensate their car owners for any accidents and the loss of value their cars now have, but the lawsuit is ongoing as there are many vehicles on the road that still have this issue.
More recently, A Tesla owner filed a claim against the brand saying their accident was caused by the same issue: sudden acceleration.
Losing control of the gas pedal can be extremely dangerous for both you and the other drivers on the road. Not having control of your cars acceleration can cause you to slam into another vehicle, run yourself, or others, off the road, and more. All of these can lead to injury and damage to vehicles, not to mention a loss in car value and other, more serious problems.
If you have a Toyota and want to join the lawsuit, or feel that the cause of your accident was also the fault of unintended acceleration, contact us today to see how we can help you file a claim and get the compensation you deserve.
