WLS-TV reports that traffic was backed up for 4 miles on the Interstate 80/94 following a Gary auto accident.
Police report there was a disabled vehicle in the area of the Gary auto accident. The first three vehicles that approached the disabled vehicle were able to stop, but the next four vehicles did not stop in time, causing a chain-reaction Gary auto accident that included seven cars.
The four cars involved in the Gary auto accident were ticketed for following too closely. An ambulance that was on the way to the scene became stuck in the traffic caused by the Gary auto accident.
